SESIS IEPs for English Language Learners

Are you developing an IEP for an ELL in SESIS?  Please review this document which will walk you through the steps necessary to create a valid IEP for an ELL. 

Based on an agreement in July 2013 between the NYC Department of Education and the NY State Education Department, the X code field in CAP and its equivalent field in SESIS (also displayed in ATS) will no longer be used by the DOE.  Instead, a new procedure, the English Language Acquisition Needs Determination (ELAND), will be used.  ELAND Guidance is available on the Intranet.

The Council of Chief State School Officers and the English Language Proficiency Development Framework Committee recently released a document which analyzes the linguistic demands of the Common Core Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.

To assist schools with implementation of the Citywide Instructional Expectations and the Common Core Learning Standards, NYCDOE also created two general documents highlighting some insights and practical suggestings for accelerating academic achievement of ELLs in Literacy and Math.  These resources were shared on January 8, 2013 at the ELL PD.
